Why does sustainability matter to you?
It's really easy when talking about sustainability to get really doomsday and think about all of the massive, fossil fuel actions that have led us to where we are with the climate. But that's why it's so important to work in this field. We have to do something. We have the opportunity to mesh our passion and our profession. And, you know, if not us, then who?
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
For me it was hitting that threshold, maybe four or five years in when I really became known as a trusted subject matter expert. I started at JLL young, as an associate project manager. I didn't even know how to read a set of construction drawings and now people seek my advice. And that just feels great.
What would you say to someone considering a career in sustainability?
I would say do it. Linking your profession with your passion is possible. You can have a purpose-led career. And if you're like me, you can count all the square feet of impact that you've had across the globe and it’s a great feeling.
Why join sustainability at JLL?
JLL is such a great company because of its scale. I sit in Chicago, but I've worked on projects all over the world, just recently in Geneva, Switzerland. And that impact in working for companies — Fortune 100 clients — that have global portfolios, you just don't have those opportunities with every company.
