NEW YORK, May 22, 2024 – JLL Capital Markets today announced it has been retained to market the sale of a two-story loft-style building at 496 Broome St. that was purchased and once occupied by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the 1970’s.
The property was the couple’s New York home prior to acquiring their long-time residence at the famed Dakota apartment building. Control of the property has remained in the family and it is being offered for sale for the first time in 53 years.
Located on the North side of Broome St. between Wooster St. and West Broadway, the property features a gallery-like ground floor space with 14.4 ft. ceilings, an open kitchen plus a bedroom loft in the rear. The top floor comprises another large live-work space and one-time recording studio.
The property has 4,600 square feet of air rights and current zoning allows for three additional floors for a total gross floor area of roughly 7,500 square feet above grade, subject to Landmarks approval.
